Rice the making.
Now just thinking of it, rice it is not the easiest thing to
get right. It not with all the starch in it if you stir it too much it gets so
sticky that you cannot get it to come apart. Some say that does not make a
different in it but I say that it does. I like to shake my and add an egg to it
so that it does not get that sticky. If you add sugar to it that will make it
sticky so that you cannot use it if added too much I think a half a cup is
enough and in some baits too much. Making it so that it will not come apart.
I also think that 40 ozs of liquid is enough to a 28oz box of rice.
In some baits I have use up to 64 but that is for a soft rice use close to the
bank. Some get it hot and others don't on some bait it can be night and day if
you know what I mean. Well that is where that I use it at. No more than 20 feet
out and one of the best carpers that I have known said that if you fish over
that then you were too far out anyway. This is all the liquid that you put into
it added up so remember that all the liquid that you use adds up. I also like
to add a hand full of crack corn to it to help it come apart and so that the
fish will have something else to root on and hold them there for you. It also
helps it to make bubbles.
Now I also like to take the rice and let it set 4 hours. Most use
it after 30 min to a hour after that they make it. I have seen at times when
that you have the fish rooting good on a bait that it does not matter at all. I
just think that rice don't come in till it is about 4 hours old are at less
some of my most of mine baits seem that way. After that it has set up I take my
hand and break it apart so that it is all grain-to-grain so to say. You can
take it and get a hand full and let it pour off your hand into the bucket and
that is the way that it looks not sticking to each other. That makes a great
packing bait and one that comes apart real good and will let the bubbles out to
help get the fish on it. For we all know that carp like bubbles don't we.
This is for minute rice and not water rice like Water Maid or
Comet rice that is a whole different thing at hand. When making it is for soft
baits that you use it. You can use minute rice and do the same thing with it
that is what the 60ozs do to it. But it will, still feel different than the
other to you. When that I use it I sometimes put it in the oven a while to dry
it out some makes the fish root real well on it but they have a hard time
running with it done that way. So I use it to get them rooting on something and
ready for what I will fish with too catch them. I will put it in for about 15
minutes on 350 and then if it needs some more I will let it have it. If you
don't watch it! It will get so it cannot be pack at all. That is a great thing
to add a hand full to chow or pack bait (soybean and wheat bran).
To use water rice that is what I will call it. Cook it with a cup of water to a
cup of rice. Maybe just a little more rice then water then you have it. That is
in the liquid that you will use to fish with hand the water to make it a cup to
a cup. Then you have it on rice baits I think. So I hope that this will help
you all some out there.

28 ozs box of Minute rice
32 ozs bottle Hunts ketchup
1 oz bottle of Almond Flavoring
6 ozs of niblet corn
Mix ketchup and almond flavoring and nibblet corn together. Let set
about an ½ an hour mix in 15min. Pour on rice and shake well and let set an
hour before using. Shaking every 15min for that hour. Then breaking it up so
that it is grain to grain. While that you wait on this put some Credence
Clearwater Revival or BB King on and turn it up. Look there is more to making
rice bait then just pouring something over rice and calling it good. You have
to work at it a little you know like then there boilies that you make. It takes
a little while to make a bucket of rice and to get it right were that it would
come apart right like it should. To make the bubbles like it should do at the
right time. It takes a couple baits of mine 4 hours to be ready to use for
fishing. You just can't rush some things you know. There are rice baits and
then there rice baits that I'm talking about here. In an hour to an hour and a
½ make a ball up and try it in some water the same tem. Of the water that you
will be fishing in. See how that it acts and how long it take to break up. You
want inside 2mins to pop. Don't forget to put your Sugar Pop, Tix or Corn Pop
in the center of the ball that you make to test to see how long it takes to
pop.
Forever Rice
Take a 4 lb box of minute rice it will make a
3 gal bucket full. 1 lb of salt 3 cups of sugar and a 64 ounce bottle of
ketchup. And 3 ounces of flavoring it will take about two days or more for your
rice to setup. But once it does your good till the last ball of bait.
You can use these baits at the river as long as you use them in a still place.
That is the way that Rick and I use to use then and we caught fish with them.
So I know that it can be done. I don't know if you would be able to get them
out as far as you are use too. We fish them close in. If you have some swims
that you fish close in at. Then you might want to give them a try there. I know
that is saying a lot what with no baiting going on in a hole and all for this
rice. But this is good rice bait. If you use your ground bait and get some fish
in and around then this rice just might get a few fish.
