A 100lb 8oz Common Carp requires a big net
Reports are in of a 100lb 8oz Common Carp landed by Colin Smith from the Etang La Saussaie fishery in France.
If confirmed and verified, this fish will set a new World Record for the Common strain of the species. While the current record for the species overall is 101lb 4oz.
Carpe France who promote the fishery posted on their facebook page yesterday that the fish was caught at 6.45pm on the 23rd of April and fell to a Premier Bait Boilie.
It’s not the first time the fish has been, caught, it came out 2 years ago weighing in at 88lb when it was caught by Korda’s development director Damian Clarke. Back then it was just 7oz shy of the world record, but did take the French record.

Etang La Saussaie is an 8 acre lake containing mainly carp of over 30lbs and if the reports are accurate, they can now also boast one of over 100lb too.

The lake only contains 14 swims and is set in the champagne region of France.
