The Catfish
This took place on July 3 1994. It was at a lake called Alonzo in Mt. Pleasant. It was pack that night for it was an all-nighters. Terry, Mike, Wanda and Gaynell and I were there and I believe the kids Robert and Susan were there to.
People were catching fish all around weighing them on the hours. Terry, mike and I were just starting to get into them. I think that we had won an hour or so a pierce. I kelp putting the pack bait out to them there fish I tell you I did.
I was fishing with Mitchel 300 with 12 lb test line on them. Putting them half way out in the pone and catching carp now like crazy but not winning any money. Then they just stop out of the blue and noting. No bites are any thing just still. So back to putting more pack bait out to try and get some fish in front of me you know.
I got a couple of carp a couple of hours later. Then my end rod picks up real slow and lay it back down. That is the way a big fish bites at times you know. So here it goes again this time I was ready for it. When it got to the top and beat the rod I let it have it and it was on. The line started to peel off the reel at a high rate of speed. The rod was beat to where it looks like it was going to break at any time. Then the fish just lay down and I knew that I had a catfish than. There were a few saying break your line I said h no that it was a fish and I was going to get it in if I could you know. The fish just lay there as I pull the rod back. I was thinking what I to do was. Then I remember something that a friend told me a long time ago when a fish lay down on you. That was to pluck the line but you have to have it tight.
The catfish got up just to lay down it again and he done it four more times he did before I got him to the bank. Got him to the bank and seen him for the first time Terry said man look at that fish Paul. Terry got him in the net and I took him up there to weight and he went 43.3 now that is a catfish.
