My Biggest Carp to date.
This one was on a Friday night after work at Shoe Show in the year 19 and 85. I went to bed the night before and had a dream that I caught a lot of fish down at a lake call Popular Tent. I went to work the next day and that was all that I could talk about. My wife at the time told me that I should hush up about it. All I could do was tell her that I was going to get them fish tonight at the lake.
We got at the lake and ever one was already there. The place that I wanted was a place that no one fish because of the crappie beds in there. So I got my peen 9s set up and in the water with the clickers on. I was fishing grits with Black Cherry Kool-Aid in it. 7 packs of it in the bait, with a little dry rice in it to. There you have it on what I was fishing that night and that was it so help me God.
The wife and the kids left so it got real quite around the corner. There was a bush out in the water about 10 yards out right in a crappie bed. I was putting a reel right in front of it. Then another at the bank to the left and one right on the right side of the bush.
Then the bush split wild open and the clickers were off and sounding. I pick the reel up and it was a good fish I play it and got it in and it went 26lbs 5oz. Everybody was real quite around the lake. I put that one back in the water and turn around and the clickers sounded a gene. This time it was the one that I had along the bank. It felt good to and as I play him he got heavy as time went on. I got him in and he went 27 lbs. 14oz what a fish. Now this makes me two jars also and maybe two hours. I get it back in the water and turn around and my other reel takes off. I get it and it really feels good split the bush wild open and keeps on going and snaps my 20 lb test line like it was noting. I lost quite a few fish that night in that crappie bed.
This one I got to write something about. It was on the one that I had in front of the bush. When it took off there were sparks coming from the sides of the peen 9 it was something else to see. It was singing that reel with all he had and when I set the hook on him it got worst. The rod bent double and started to crack under the weight of the fish. So I loose up the drag a little more I don’t like to do that but I had to on this one. He was trying to make it to the crappie bed and I had to stop him from that. So I lock the drag down and run up the bank with the reel in hand. Look back and seen that he was out of it and started to play him a gene.
Every time that I would get him near the bank he would take off and run 40 yards back out. I know that I had him in to the bank ten times. Man he was big the biggest that I ever got and I was asking the lord to let me get him. I got him in real close and got the net ready and pull him in head first. Pick the net up a little and slid him out of the water and just look at him for a moment. Man what a fish everybody was asking what I have this time I told them that I got the daddy of them all. I went to carry him up there and he flop and there went my net he had brock it. I just laugh and said that I would buy a net for a fish like this any day. He went 33.4 lbs and is my biggest carp to this day. I believe that this all took place in or around 1985.
To make this story sort I got a 26lber and two 25lber a couple of 24lber a 23lber and 3 20lber it was the best night I had carp fishing as far as catching big fish. I won all the hours and the 3, 2, 1, and 4 jars and jackpots.
