Coconut Rice. I was just listening to Marian Carey and thinking about carp fishing. I was fishing one night at a lake called Lake Shore. We all were catching fish that night all around the lake as so many nights. I was up in the money so I was happy, as you are when that you are winning.
The bait that we were using this night was green rice bait. You take ketchup and coconut and mustard seed to make it. I have got a lot of nice fish with this bait I tell you that I have. This night was no different. I might just get that fish of the night you know the one that all of us are out here for.
That end rod stood up and I knew that I had a good fish. So I played it easy and got him in it was in the 20’s. I took it up and weight him and he was good enough for a jar and turn out the hour to. That fish, I was thinking just might get me the big fish of the night to. But there was a lot of night left to go it you know about four more hours. Carp fishing anything can happen in that length of time. Oh that jar was not that much for it had all ready been hit. I got a hundred or so out of it but all helps you know. The fish took second biggest of the night so that was a little more all in all I came out real good.
Now for the bait I’m listening to Sammy Kershaw so lets see what we can do on bait. Swing that hammer and beat that drum. You need a big box of minute rice 28ozs box. You will need a 36oz bottle of ketchup Hunts. You will need a bottle of Savers Coconut flavoring 2oz. You also will need a bottle of green food coloring 2oz Savers. And last you will need a small box of mustard seed to add to it after it has set up.
Put ketchup, coconut and green food coloring in a bowl and mix real well. Let set 45 minutes to an hour. Then pore over rice put lead on and shake well. Let set an hour and then break it up good and add mustard seed to it and go fishing. Well that about it for the Coconut Rice Bait. IT ‘s a good bait to use when the water gets hot and it just as hot out side to you.
